Welcome!
Just a brief introduction. My name is Joan Manning and I have been involved in health and fitness from a very young age. I started swimming competitively at 11 years old, and ran Cross Country and Track from middle school through high school. As an adult, I began training in martial arts in 1999. Throughout the years I have studied several martial arts' systems and I continue to keep exploring and learning. After earning both a B.S. and M.S. in Psychology, I decided to go a different route and enrolled in massage school. I began my career as a massage therapist in 1996 by earning my initial certifications in Swedish Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy. After studying numerous modalities over the years, I decided to devote my practice to Manual Lymph Drainage Therapy (Vodder Method) and Fascia Stretch Therapy (Stretch to Win Institute). I have been certified in Manual Lymph Drainage Therapy since 1998 and, in 2021, I became certified in Fascia Stretch Therapy (Level 4 practitioner).
I provide Manual Lymph Drainage Therapy for Lymphedema/Lipedema patients; Pre- and Post-Surgical care (Plastic surgery, knee replacement, hip replacement, reconstructive, etc); and general inflammation in the body due to allergies, sinusitis, poor digestion, circulatory issues, etc.
Fascia Stretch Therapy goes beyond just stretching of the fascia, muscles and joints, it affects all systems of the body. The benefits of Fascia Stretch Therapy are numerous and diverse as fascia is all encompassing. I like to call it deep tissue therapy using flowing, stretch movements rather than deep pressure, kneading, and pain. As a result, clients feel a sense of peace, lightness, and relaxation after a session rather than feeling like they have been "beat up" but, they still receive profound therapeutic results. I have found that people of all ages and walks of life can benefit from this amazing form of therapy!
